Peter White - General Manager

Following a move to New Zealand in 2015 working at Treetops Lodge & Estate, Peter joins The Marlborough Lodge with a wealth of international experience in the luxury hospitality sector.  

Prior to moving to New Zealand he work at the prestigious multi award winning Lucknam Park Hotel - member of Relais Chateaux near Bath - UK for over 10 years in a variety of roles, most recently as the Resident Manager.

Peter’s career has spanned over 25 years in 4 countries, with management roles at the Pelham Hotel, London, Rimrock Resort - Banff Canada, pre-opening team Playford Hotel Adelaide, Australia.

Earlier career positions saw Peter learning the trade at a variety of prestigious Australian properties including Delgany Country House Victoria, Australia and the Stamford Plaza, Adelaide. A management trainee at the Sheraton Towers, Southgate in Melbourne, Australia and graduate of the College of Tourism and Hospitality (COTAH). 

Peter has always held front of house and subsequently management roles displaying his high level of professionalism, commitment to excellent guest satisfaction and desire to innovate. 

A Master Innholder scholarship recipient who attended Cranfield University in 2013, Peter is a Saint Julian Scholar and a Member of the Institute of Hospitality. 

Peter brings a passion for travel and love of great food and wine to The Marlborough Lodge. He enjoys the great outdoors and being closer to his family in Australia after living away for so long.

Jason Brown - Head Chef

Head chef, Jason Brown, previously hails from Rotorua’s Treetops Lodge and Estate. He brings an impressive pedigree having previously worked the kitchens of Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island and the prestigious Wharekauhau Lodge in the Wairarapa.

Jason and his chef team have a big focus on offering the best of local and seasonal food. Naturally delicious fresh Marlborough seafood is right up there among the offerings, as are meats and an abundance of produce from the extensive lodge gardens and surrounding farms.

Simon Payne - Sales Manager

Simon’s career in Tourism spans 30 years working in many different roles across the industry including 15 years in retail travel and several airlines. This culminated management and subsequent transformation of a successful travel agency business in Port Vila for four years. 

More recently he spent ten years as Sales Manager at Interislander. The tough challenge of protecting the company's revenue streams and preparing it to deal with new and emerging markets entering the New Zealand tourism space were met and dealt with head on. 

Within the last year Simon initiated an operations framework for Weta Workshop’s growing suite of tourism products.

Simon believes The Marlborough Lodge reputation for excellence already sells itself. He will primarily work with New Zealand and international organisations and individuals to showcase how the Lodge is a perfect solution for their personal or business event requirements.
